1897, USA, WRECK MAIL FROM THE ST PAUL STEAMER, cover with "WILLIAMSBURG VA. JUN 14 1897" cds, w. stamps washed off send to London (Great Britain) two-line framed "DAMAGED BY IMMERSION / IN SEA WATER" and arrival "LONDON PAID 24 JU 97", on reverse british label "FOUND OPEN AND / OFFICIALLY SEALED". Very fine and scarce.
The ´´St. Paul´´ was wrecked near Long Island, New York a short time after it left New York City on a transatlantic voyage.
